Managing complex configurable products in the field
Over the 20 year lifespan of a wind turbine, its configuration is being continually updated; a process that often takes place in remote geographical locations by service technicians unable to connect online with the company.
The creation of an infrastructure to linkup the wind turbine configuration to the feature string maintained centrally in the company is essential to ensure correct configuration of the product and capture the value of after-sales opportunities.
This presentation will explore the challenges of servicing a complex product in the field where correct configuration is the key to safe and efficient operations of wind turbines.
